Summer Breeze

CHESHIRE CAT NARROWBOAT EXPERIENCE COURSE
One day - 95 per person

This course is for: complete beginners, novices or those wishing to gain more confidence, brush up on their boating skills, kick bad habits or as a taster day prior to taking the RYA Certificate course, or going on a narrowboat holiday. This course is run both as mixed groups and Ladies Only days.

What you will learn: water safety, handling a narrowboat on the canal, mooring, ropes and knots, navigating through locks, bridges and tunnels, map reading, canal etiquette, considerate boating.

Lock Operations

CHESHIRE CAT LIFE AFLOAT EXPERIENCE COURSE
Two days - 175 per person

This course is for: complete beginners and novices, particularly if you are thinking of buying a boat, a share in a boat, or for those wishing to learn narrowboating skills at a more leisurely pace

What you will learn: All the subjects covered in the one day course, plus advice on choosing, buying and owning a boat, living aboard, moorings, licences, basic maintenance and costs.

The course includes an overnight stay on the training boat, with the opportunity to cook aboard.

Ladies on the move   RYA Course

RYA INLAND WATERWAYS HELMSMAN COURSE
Two days - 225 per person

This course is for: novices or those with little boating experience who need the formal RYA Certification for their work, volunteering role, or insurance requirement.

What you will learn: water safety, boat handling, rope work, basic engine checks, man overboard procedures, collision avoidance. The first day covers the syllabus as laid down in the RYA Inland Waterways Handbook, followed by a day's assessment of skills attained.

Into a Lock   RYA Course

RYA INLAND WATERWAYS HELMSMAN ASSESSMENT
One day - 114 per person

This course is for: experienced boaters who need the formal RYA Certification for their work, volunteering role, or insurance requirement.

What you will learn: This is an assessment day to ensure that students are proficient in all aspects of the Inland Waterways Helmsman Certificate syllabus

Alex on the boat   RYA Course

RYA INLAND WATERWAYS CREW COURSE
One day - Adults 95 per person, accompanied children 50 each

This course is for: family members, beginners and anyone wishing to help out on the narrowboat and be a useful crew member. Ideal for those planning a family narrowboat holiday. Open to adults and accompanied children aged 8 and above.

What you will learn: Water safety, knots and rope work, map reading, helping to moor, working through locks. Children can have a go at steering, provided they are tall enough to see over the top of the boat.

Own Boat Experience

OWN BOAT EXPERIENCE COURSE
One or two days - Please phone for prices

This course is for: anyone wanting to do any of the above courses, but on their own boat.

*Please note that RYA Certificate courses can only be run in areas with access to at least one lock within two hours cruising distance.

**Sorry, we do not carry out training on traditional stern boats, as there is insufficient space on the stern for all to stand safely.

***The instructor reserves the right to refuse training on unsuitable vessels.

Diesel Engine

OWN BOAT DIESEL ENGINE MAINTENANCE COURSE
Half day - 75 plus materials

This course is for: boat owners wishing to learn to carry out their own basic servicing. Our qualified diesel instructor will come to your boat and supervise you while you learn to service your engine.

What you will learn: anything you want to ask the engineer about your own boat!
