Here are a few atmospheric photos I took on our training day! We had a really amazing time - great weather, and put all our skills to good use. We managed to get our heads round the locks too! And oh yes - we worked as a team :) I'm sure it's a type of holiday we'd do again, so thanks again for your valuable input.

We just wanted to say thanks for the excellent training we
received from Mark, we learned a lot and found him very friendly and
accommodating. I would highly recommend your service to anybody else.

Had a fabulous day with Linda from Cheshire Cat Training. I
was a complete novice when I did the Helmsman's course with Linda. With her
amazing patience and calm attitude coupled with a world of experience and words
of advice tackling our 45ft narrowboat seemed a lot less of a handful :) I have
gained so much confidence that the following day after the course my partner and
I completed 29 locks, including Heartbreak Hill. The best thing is that now my
partner and I can take turns driving and operating the locks not to mention
brewing up and making the bacon butties... thank u again Linda and Cheshire Cat
Training, we will pop in to say hello when we head up the Llangollen.
Just wanted to say thank you very much for a really good day
on the 22nd. The course was so interesting and contained so much information,
that you passed onto us, without overloading us. The time went so quickly and
despite the weather was really enjoyable. I reversed that boat out of the
mooring and then out of the marina, something I have never done before and
something that I would have probably said 'NO' to previously because I lacked
confidence and was unsure of what to do. Your calm manner gave me that
confidence and I am very grateful to you. At least now I will not just be
opening and closing the locks!! Kind regards.
Lee and I would like to thank you for the excellent days training - RYA Helmsman's certificate. After 50 years playing with boats albeit sea going ones, there is always more to learn. We both found the course and your teaching very good. The general chat as we went through the day built up a good deal of general knowledge of boats, engines and things to look out for, based on all your years on the 'Cut'. Our week's holiday that followed the training was enhanced and enjoyed from the moment we stepped on board.. no stress. Thanks

The course was simply brilliant! Good instruction, very helpful, very
knowledgeable. Keep up the good work.
Just a quick note to let you know we successfully completed the maiden weeks boating without sinking it thanks to your expert tuition - really don't know how we would have done it without you, especially appreciated your patience with Suzan as she was a total novice. I include a couple of photos of the week - we got just past Hassall Green where we turned it around and came back at a leisurely pace - having enough locks, going both up and down them, under our belt to not be having a problem with them now. Once again many thanks

Paul and i just wanted to say a big thank you for our training
day last Saturday. We both really enjoyed the day and being back on the water
again! We both learnt so much and know we will find the information and tips you
gave us very useful on our future trips. We cant wait for Easter now and the

A most informative day - full of common sense. Very helpful
I didn't know how much I didn't know!
Roy, 30 years boating experience
We've had a brilliant day, thank you so much
Rose and Ros, previously too nervous to steer
I'm 700% more confident now, you've taught me so much about
Steve, about to collect his newly purchased boat
We had a fantastic 2 days and really enjoyed ourselves. Linda was a great trainer, very patient and helpful and we felt well prepared - she even managed to "arrange" for us to have full training on what to do if you get something stuck in your propeller - nice placement of the fleece there Linda ;-) What to do if you run aground (although that may have been my fault, but I'd prefer to blame it on the wind), and what to do if the wind refuses to cooperate when turning in a winding hole... More seriously, we had plenty of chance to work the locks, take it in turns steering, turning and mooring up and got a wealth of tips and advice on working the cut, living in a boat and purchasing one; we couldn't be happier! The boat itself was lovely and everything we hoped for and stopping for lunch on the canal side was lovely. The training certainly helped us understand a lot lot more about canals and canal boats, and it looks like we'll be buying one of our own in the future! (can't wait!)
Thanks for everything
